This poster was created for my Digital Community Engagement class, where we explored how visual storytelling and strategic messaging can activate civic participation. I designed a promotional poster for CityCamp ATLANTA 2025, an unconference focused on harnessing community power and technology for local solutions. The design was built entirely from the event’s official description, which emphasized grassroots mobilization, civic tech, and inclusive collaboration. I wanted the poster to reflect the urgency and optimism of the event’s theme— “We’re Here to Save Us”—while remaining accessible and visually compelling for a broad audience.

I chose bold, declarative language and a clean layout to highlight key goals: improving civic engagement through technology, building climate resilience, addressing housing and racial disparities, and honoring community history. These priorities directly respond to systemic challenges outlined in the source text, including federal funding cuts and the need for stronger local partnerships. The design also mirrors the event’s call to action, inviting residents, technologists, artists, and public servants to co-create solutions.

This artifact serves as both an informational tool and a rallying cry. It could be most effectively deployed across both digital and physical platforms: shared via Civic Tech Atlanta’s social media, embedded in newsletters, displayed in public spaces such as libraries and transit stations, and used as signage during the event itself. Its clarity and emotional resonance make it adaptable for outreach, engagement, and on-site inspiration.

Creating this poster helped me apply course concepts around digital storytelling, community-centered design, and strategic outreach. It also reinforced my belief that visual communication can be a powerful catalyst for civic action, especially when it’s rooted in shared values and collective purpose.
